Monthly Meetings

Roundtable is a recurring, district-level meeting for all Scout leaders from the Cub Scouts (Pack, Den) and Scouts BSA (Troop, Patrol, Crew) programs to share ideas, receive training, learn about upcoming events, and get support for their units. These meetings provide a forum for leaders to offer and receive help from other Scouters, fostering community and providing practical, timely information to improve the Scouting program.Â
District Committee meeting is a gathering of Scout leaders and volunteers. These meetings serve as a forum to discuss, plan, and coordinate all Scouting activities, unit support, and membership goals within the district, ensuring the effective implementation of council policies and programs at the local level.Â
Purpose: To facilitate the growth and success of all Scouting units in a district by mobilizing resources, addressing challenges, and coordinating district-wide efforts.Â
Attendees: The meetings are open to all adult leaders, including the "Key 3" (District Commissioner, District Committee Chair, and District Executive), unit commissioners, and members of various district operating committees.Â
Unit Support: Reviewing unit progress and identifying needs to help units improve their programs.Â
Events & Planning: Planning and promoting district events, community service projects, and supporting council-wide events.Â
Membership & Growth: Working to organize new units, recruit new members, and maintain relationships with community organizations to expand the Scouting program.Â
Training & Information: Providing training for district and unit leaders and sharing information and best practices.Â
Fellowship: Fostering connections and networking among Scouters to build a stronger community.Â
Structure: The meetings are overseen by the District Executive and often include a district committee chairman and a commissioner staff to help support the units in the district.Â
Outcome: The overall goal is to enhance Scouting's effectiveness within the district and ensure a positive experience for all youth members and leaders.Â
This year, our Roundtable and District Committee Meetings will be held together and on the First Wednesday of the month at 7:30PM at The Dalton Garden Church of Christ, downstairs.

DIY Unit Fundraisers
Participation in Council Fundraisers & Annual Planning for Unit Success
Have you made a plan? Does your unit have a budget? Are you going to grow?
Unfortunately, we are not yet in a Star Trek timeline and money is still a part of our units' existence. It is critical for each unit to have a financial plan. Our DE works to check in with each unit annually and help ensure that a plan exists and to support development or modification of the plan as needed over time.
Our council runs two fundraisers each year to support fundraising efforts for units: Camp Cards in the Spring and Popcorn sales in the Fall. These fundraisers also help to support our council as it does the necessary work of holding insurance, keeping our three camp properties in good working order and available to our units, training professionals to improve their knowledge and skills to support units, providing locally available Summer Camp and other programming, and more.
While participation in one or more of the council fundraisers is highly encouraged, we recognize that those particular fundraisers may not be enough or may not work seamlessly with your unit's annual calendar or plan. Units are typically welcome to run their own fundraisers (within guidelines) but are required to submit a Unit Fundraiser Application for each fundraiser they run outside of council's fundraisers each year.
Each unit also must recruit at least once annually, preferably in the fall and spring. Membership is critical to unit health and success! Hopefully, your unit has a plan in place. If you do not have a plan by the time you schedule a Unit Check-in meeting, we can help you start to craft a plan. More friends equals more fun and more hands to support the fun!
